Waiting for the next iPhone...

Check that out! If this is what it could be, I am DEFINITELY waiting!

I had a dilemma about this a little bit ago. My contract with AT&T is up and I need to get a new phone. Last time I mentally debated this, I was leaning towards the Samsung Galaxy s4. However, I've done some recent research and have decided to go with the iPhone.

Now, before judging me too harshly, there is an article I found on cnn.com that discusses how the next iPhone will be released in September. ANDDD it's supposed to be SUPER cool! The main problem I have right now with the iPhone is the amount of face area that is non-screen, and I think this is going to change with the next model. (Seriously read the article, it seems AWESOME!)

So that is the direction I am leaning towards right now. And one of my coworkers told me that if I don't like the new model, then the iPhone will be cheaper when the new one is released, so it seems like a win-win to me :)

Battle of the Smartphones: the iPhone 5 vs. the Galaxy S4

It's that time of (every 2) year(s) again. My contract is up with AT&T and I get to get a new phone and renew! For now (and probably forever since we've been grandfathered into unlimited data), I am on my parents phone plan. I honestly do not have the funds to have my own phone contract, and it's not that much for my line to be on their bill. Thanks mom and dad. YOLO.

Now, I am a HUGE Apple fan. It's probably because I am in advertising and I love strong brands and analyzing what makes them succeed. I mean, Steve Jobs introduced the iPad (which really had no purpose - laptops and smartphones are quite sufficient) and he created some kind of desire in society to shell out roughly $500/piece and it became a smashing success! You don't see that happen every day, folks.

Lately though, my iPhone 4s has been a PIECE. OF. CRAP. It sucks. But really - it's always freezing and not working properly. I get texts 20 minutes after they've been sent to me, and everything is running incredibly slow. I am getting SOOO fed up with it! Essentially, I feel like if I end up getting the iPhone 5, the same things will happen.

I mean, this picture doesn't even compare. The Galaxy is the clear winner!
So, what phone would be an alternative to the iPhone 5? Enter the Samsung Galaxy S4. First of all, the display is BEAUTIFUL. The screen is so pretty and big and has much better resolution. I have looked at a lot of sites and I feel like the Galaxy has better performance, as well. Sometimes, I tend to be rougher on my phones, and I think the Galaxy is more durable. I just feel like it would be an overall better choice for me to make if I got the S4 instead of the iPhone.

But I love the Apple brand! And I am comfortable using the iPhone. And most of my friends have iPhones and iMessaging is great. But I also feel like the Galaxy is the better phone. Plus I do enjoy its commercials - The next best thing is already here.

I'm completely torn! And I need to make a decision PRONTO, before my current iPhone falls apart on me.

The Tinder Project

So last night after moving in, I physically did not have the energy to leave my bed. I was exhausted. And I don't have a TV in my new apartment. And both of my roommates were gone and hadn't responded to my text for the internet password. I was BORED. OUT. OF. MY. MIND.

So I decided to download Tinder.

I honestly had no intentions other than to make fun of everyone on it. I had seen a ton of my friends' "recommended matches" and they were HILARIOUS. But I was actually surprised with what I found. Sure, there were wayyy more 40-year-olds than should be allowed to even download the app to their phone (I encountered 8. I think they were serious. But really, I wonder if they are getting any "likes". If they are, it's just because people are making fun of them I'm sure). OH, and I also got a guy who immediately started talking about hooking up. (Needless to say that conversation ended right then and there.) But I was happy to see that there were a lot of decent looking guys. Even some REALLY CUTE guys! (One of which looked like Taylor Lautner from the pictures he had. HOTTTT)

I started liking some of the "potential matches", and even struck up conversations with a few. I got a lot of the "I just downloaded this app" or "I'm not exactly sure how this works" introductions, but that could have just been an act. I mean, it really was my first time using the app - should I give them the benefit of the doubt? I went with it and ended up talking with some of the guys for awhile.

ANYWAYS, moral of the story: I did meet a few guys that I think would be decent, but you never know. Nothing will come of this self-titled "Tinder Project", I never will talk with any of those guys ever again. BUT! It definitely helped me pass the time by myself, with no internet or TV. Would I do it all over again? YOU BETCHA!

In the future, I think I'll stick to meeting people in-person, not via a hook-up app. Definitely an interesting experience, though. First night in NYC, success!
