That's not fair

Today, my company had an outing, so we weren't in the office and were drinking the entire day (more to come about that  tomorrow!). But tonight, I got dinner and drinks with Chloe. It was more mellow because we were both exhausted, but it was good to see her and just hang out for a little.

As we were leaving, we were walking down the street when I hear Chloe go "Oh hey". I look up and it's Ellen's boyfriend. (Sidenote, I've officially decided to give her a name, Ellen is my friend that I was going to live with, but it didn't end up working out for a number of reasons.) I didn't really know how to act since a lot of people now know that me and Ellen aren't living together by now, so I also was also like "hi!"

He goes to give Chloe a hug hello and turns to me and gives me a ginormous death stare. SO UNNECESSARY AND RUDE! I decided to ignore it - I'm probably the least awkward person ever so that wasn't that difficult - and I also went in for a hug. He didn't even make eye contact with me while doing so. He then talked to us for about a minute, and when I say "us" I mean only Chloe, and then we parted ways.

Ugh, the entire encounter left me with such a terrible feeling. Ellen was the one who told me to go for it and gave me her blessing - was she lying to me when she said that? We both ended up wanting different things in a place, and her not even being in town when we were looking for places (and not answering her phone for DAYS when I would try to get in touch) didn't help the situation. She put me in such a bad spot, and now I feel like I look like the bad guy.

That's not fair. And now i feel like crap about the whole thing.

The Tinder Project

So last night after moving in, I physically did not have the energy to leave my bed. I was exhausted. And I don't have a TV in my new apartment. And both of my roommates were gone and hadn't responded to my text for the internet password. I was BORED. OUT. OF. MY. MIND.

So I decided to download Tinder.

I honestly had no intentions other than to make fun of everyone on it. I had seen a ton of my friends' "recommended matches" and they were HILARIOUS. But I was actually surprised with what I found. Sure, there were wayyy more 40-year-olds than should be allowed to even download the app to their phone (I encountered 8. I think they were serious. But really, I wonder if they are getting any "likes". If they are, it's just because people are making fun of them I'm sure). OH, and I also got a guy who immediately started talking about hooking up. (Needless to say that conversation ended right then and there.) But I was happy to see that there were a lot of decent looking guys. Even some REALLY CUTE guys! (One of which looked like Taylor Lautner from the pictures he had. HOTTTT)

I started liking some of the "potential matches", and even struck up conversations with a few. I got a lot of the "I just downloaded this app" or "I'm not exactly sure how this works" introductions, but that could have just been an act. I mean, it really was my first time using the app - should I give them the benefit of the doubt? I went with it and ended up talking with some of the guys for awhile.

ANYWAYS, moral of the story: I did meet a few guys that I think would be decent, but you never know. Nothing will come of this self-titled "Tinder Project", I never will talk with any of those guys ever again. BUT! It definitely helped me pass the time by myself, with no internet or TV. Would I do it all over again? YOU BETCHA!

In the future, I think I'll stick to meeting people in-person, not via a hook-up app. Definitely an interesting experience, though. First night in NYC, success!

I left my stuff in New York City

[caption id="" align="alignleft" width="424"] This is how I feel right now.[/caption]

So tomorrow is part 1 of the big moving day! I am currently in my parents hotel room (SO nice to have the internet back!) and all of the things I am bringing to New York are in our car. We are leaving bright and early in the morning and are moving my stuff into my future apartment! Ahhhh I'm so excited slash INCREDIBLY RELIEVED because everything will be in place for my June 1 move in. I don't think anything is going to happen to my stuff because these roommates actually just left my key with the doorman when I went to check the place out (neither of them were home), so since they trusted me, I think it's safe to trust them.

After we move my stuff in tomorrow, my parents want to walk around the city with me and see what my commute and general living area will be like. Oh em gee it is the best because I will pass Grand Central on the way to work every day, AND I also will walk place that restaurant where Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake go to eat at the end of Friends With Benefits. Sidenote: that was an amazing movie, MUCH better than No Strings Attached in my own non-professional opinion. Anyways, yea I am going to pass through all the touristy stuff every day! I really don't think I will get sick of it - I love New York wayyy too much.

On June 1, I will return to New York to LIVE THERE. Couldn't be happier or more excited!!

WeEeEeEeEeEeEeEeEeEeEeEe!

Ps: sorry, I think this post is slightly boring. My brain is absolutely FRIED from emptying my DC room all day and I feel like my creativity is at an all time low. NEXT POST WILL BE MUCH MORE EXCITING I PROMISE!
